HMRC Tax Headaches – please submit your accounts to us by 31 October 2021

Accountants across the country have experienced tax headache after tax headache with the constant changes and introduction of new tax schemes from HMRC.

From the evolving SEISS and furlough support scheme to the domestic reverse charge for the Construction Industry Scheme and the IR35 reforms for off payroll workers - it has seemed never ending - just as we get the agent updates from HMRC on changes being levied, and update our systems and clients, then another change is introduced.

We have often been the first point of call for many of our clients, often as the Chancellor makes live announcements - yes we have gotten texts asking how announcements are going to affect them during a live broadcast - and we have done all we can to keep this website and our social media accounts as up to date with information as we can.

Now we are gearing up to the ritual January busy season for tax filings and whatever surprises the Chancellor unveils in the Autumn Budget on the 27th October.

To try and gain some semblance of sanity, we are trialling a new system of processing tax returns for our clients, to encourage them to provide us with their accounts data in a more time manageable way.

We are asking that clients who have not already had their 05 April 2021 tax accounts completed, provide us with their tax data by October 31st 2021.

For any accounts that are provided to us between November 1st 2021 and January 31st 2022 there will be an additional charge of £50 plus a sliding charge of 10% to 30% on their fee. ie accounts brought in on January 5th will have a £50 plus 30% additional fee applied to their accountancy bill.

For clients with exceptional circumstances we will consider removing this fee.

Clients who bring their accounts to us in a timely manner before 31 October 2021 will continue to receive great value for our service with no additional fees and our hope is that this new system will help incentivise clients who have previously brought their accounts in to us much later or close to the HMRC tax deadline.

We will keep this new system under review.
